  • Essendon sit eighth at the moment. Fremantle are 10th, but are equal on points.

If Fremantle win and Essendon lose, then the Dockers take eighth spot.

If Fremantle win and Essendon win then the Bombers make the finals on percentage.

A Fremantle loss means they miss finals.

It’s been an unpredictable round so far ... hopefully that continues today.

Eight goals in a row for St Kilda, thanks to Marshall. Banfield quickly then breaks a 49-minute goal drought for Fremantle with a nice snap.

It’s 101-41 with five minutes to play.

Meanwhile, Essendon have made no changes ahead of their game against the Pies, now that finals is assured.

It means no one is being rested and retiring players Cale Hooker and David Zaharakis don’t get a farewell match. There was no suggestion they would given Freo’s loss but you never know.

It’s 63 points the lead to St Kilda over Freo now. Membrey kicks another to stretch the margin beyond 10 goals.

Cut to Freo coach Justin Longmuir in the box and his head is in his hands.

This is worse than a training drill. A horror afternoon for Fremantle.

That’s it Freo. You’re done. Cooper Sharman has a fourth goal.

It’s 71-32 now with most of the final term to play, but there’s no chance they’re coming back.

And as I type the score changes again with another bomb of a goal from Dean Kent.

Now we are at 77-32. A desperately disappointing afternoon for Fremantle.

    Essendon are playing finals.

St Kilda lead Freo by 33-points.

Only about 30 minutes for Essendon fans to wait to see if they’ve booked a finals spot.

At 3QT it is St Kilda up by 33-points against Fremantle.

You’re going to be playing finals Bombers fans (save for a miraculous Freo comeback).

The last two goals have come from Sharman and Membrey, who have been dangerous all afternoon.

Liam Henry receives a handball on the wing and runs to 49m then finishes with a goal.

A much, much needed spark for Fremantle.

If you can believe it, the Saints have run the ball from defence into goal again.

Tim Membrey is the beneficiary of Fremantle’s lax defending of the ground this time.

Seven of St Kilda’s eight goals have come from ball movement chains that began in defence.

Really, really worrying for Fremantle. Their season is cooked.

    Q3 STK 51 FRE 25

Jack Higgins gets another for the Saints a minute into the second half.

More easy ball movement, more acres of space for St Kilda to move into. This match is going to take a lot of work to turn for Fremantle.
