Wins for Spurs and Brentford Palace and Leicester in stalemate
Tottenham beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Sunday to end a three-match losing run in the Premier League.
Elsewhere, Brentford stole a late goal to beat West Ham 2-1 and Crystal Palace drew 2-2 with Leicester.

At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s strike and an own goal by Matt Targett in the 71st minute shortly after Ollie Watkins equalised secured a win that eases the scrutiny on Nuno Espirito Santo heading into the international break.
Tottenham had lost their last three league games by an aggregate score of 9-1.
Harry Kane, though, remains without a goal for Tottenham in the league this season. The striker squandered a number of good chances and has now gone six league games without a goal for the first time since 2015.
Kane nearly broke his drought in spectacular style as he sent a quickly taken free-kick from near the halfway line towards goal, but scrambling goalkeeper Emi Martinez was able to get back and save it.
Spurs made their dominance count as they took the lead in the 27th.
Hojbjerg won the ball back high up the pitch and played in Son Heung-min. The South Korean returned the ball to the midfielder, who picked out the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
Villa were lucky to be still in the game and in the 67th minute drew level.
A slick move saw the ball played out to Targett on the left and his ball across the face of goal was tucked home by Watkins from close range.
Three minutes later Spurs were back in front. Sergio Reguilon set Son free down the left and he squared the ball across goal that was turned into his own net by Targett under pressure from Lucas Moura.
Brentford win London derbySubstitute Yoane Wissa struck a dramatic 94th-minute winner to give Brentford victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium as the promoted side continued their superb start to life in the Premier League.
The game seemed to be heading for a draw before Wissa scored through the crowd from eight yards out after Lukasz Fabianski had punched away a towering header from Pontus Jansson.
“It was very good ... I know I needed one chance to score. It’s a good feeling, good atmosphere, [I’m] very happy for the fans ... it was now or never because we had too many chances to score in the first half,†said Wissa, who signed from Ligue 1 club Lorient in the summer.

Brentford flew out of the blocks and almost netted twice in the opening exchanges before Bryan Mbeumo made the pressure count in the 20th minute when he slotted home after Fabianski could only parry a low drive from Sergi Canos.
West Ham were sharper after the break and nearly equalised through former Brentford winger Said Benrahma, whose curling free kick was smartly tipped over by David Raya.
The home side were rewarded in the 80th minute when Jarrod Bowen lashed home a fine half-volley following Aaron Cresswell’s corner.
Palace and Leicester in stalemateJeffrey Schlupp came off the bench to earn Crystal Palace a 2-2 draw against Leicester after his former club threw away a two-goal lead at Selhurst Park.

Leicester looked on course for a first Premier League win since August as Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy capitalised on defensive errors to have the visitors two goals up at the interval.
But Palace rallied as substitute Michael Olise scored his first goal for the club before Schlupp struck in the 72nd minute as Patrick Vieira’s side earned a point.
